Developing safe and responsible AI for finance applications.
A Focus on Responsibility
Trust is at the absolute core of why accountants matter. We need a deep understanding of the potential risks and benefits, as well as careful consideration of the impact of any new technologies.
That’s why we research and test extensively before putting anything into production. Everything has to be beyond reproach. Everything has to work every time. Everything has to be compliant.
Beneficial Use
We are committed to creating in ways that are beneficial to humanity.
Everything we work on is focused on improving the quality of the experience of work. From reducing the number of hours in the office to eliminating unprofitability, we want our efforts to benefit dreamers, entrepreneurs, hard workers, and go-getters.
Ethical Considerations
AI and Automation bring up many important questions, not only about how to implement the technology responsibly and beneficially, but also how to do so ethically.
Topics such as human agency, creativity, job displacement, and transparency are all core considerations of developing safe AI applications. We are committed to developing ethical applications that enhance and empower the human experience at work, not replace it.
A CPA’s Role
AI is a tool, not a service provider.
AI can accelerate our workflows, increase the accuracy of what we can produce, and multiply our productivity, but it cannot replace the training, judgement, humanity, and expertise that a CPA adds to the equation. As CPAs, we are responsible for ensuring that the end product for our clients and stakeholders is accurate, compliant, and aligned with our professional code of conduct and best practices. Wherever possible, we recommend having a Human In the Loop (HITL) to review outputs before they are used in practice.
Sharing our Expertise
Guiding Principles
Build trust
Alongside our user and accounting community, we share the responsibility of supporting safe, beneficial applications of our technology.
Learn and iterate
We observe and analyze how our platforms behave and are used and seek input on our approach to safety in order to improve our systems over time. With input and design by CPAs, we move fast towards responsible outcomes that benefit all of us.
Business is personal
We focus on human values. Everything we build should enhance and empower the human experience at work so that we can all pursue success while still prioritizing the things in life that matter.
Cooperative empowerment
We aim to empower people, not replace them. The only work we want to replace is menial work. Our goal is to see people benefit in ways that free them to create value instead of wasting time on meaningless tasks.
